Giving Your Time is Important to the Festival

The Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival (MAJF) returns with an inspiring new theme: “Celebrating the Centennials: A Century of Sound. A Lifetime of Influence.” This year, the festival proudly honors two towering figures in jazz history—John Coltrane and Miles Davis—whose artistry continues to shape the sound and spirit of modern music.

Presented by The Jazz Academy of Music, Inc. (JAM), the festival thrives on the dedication and energy of our volunteers. By giving your time, you become an essential part of the MAJF community, gain valuable hands-on experience, and help ensure the festival’s continued success.

The 2026 Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival will take place February 13–15, 2026 at the Bethesda Marriott, 5151 Pooks Hill Road, Bethesda, Maryland. If you’re ready to join the team and contribute to this powerful celebration of jazz, please complete the volunteer application below to get started!

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Box Office Attendant

Sells Tickets, processes ticket exchanges, answers general questions. Strong financial acumen and the ability to execute cash and credit card transactions in a fast paced environment.

Ronnie’s Stage Sound Team

Handles PA system, back-line, microphones and more.

High School Band Coordinator (Student)

Help direct students to and from High School Band warm up rooms and competition room, help with change overs.

Green Room Attendant

Greet performing artists, monitor the door and prohibit access to unauthorized individuals and ensure safety of performing artists belongings while they are performing.

Hospitality Room Attendant

Help monitor the hospitality suite to ensure only people with the correct credentials enter and help artists with food and drink.

Humanities Room Attendant

Helping set up the projector and run the movie events, panel discussions and monitor room access.

Masterclass Attendant

Help set up and monitor access to masterclasses and junior jam session.

Usher

Usher for Main, The Q,  Ronnie’s, and Bijou Stages

Collecting admission tickets and passes from patrons, assisting in finding seats, searching for lost articles, and locating such facilities as restrooms and telephones

Stagehands

Stagehands for all Stages

Assist with stage set up before, during and after each act on the main stage

MAJFun Squad

Helps to direct visitors to and from activities throughout the day.  Needs to know the festival schedule and ticketing process.  Also, should be comfortable talking to patrons of every age.

ACCOMMODATIONS  

We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with the Bethesda Marriott as our venue sponsor for the 16th Annual Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival (MAJF). This upscale, contemporary hotel, located at 5151 Pooks Hill Road, Bethesda, Maryland, is just 1 mile from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and 3 miles from Bethesda’s city center. The Bethesda Marriott is the ideal setting for this year’s festival.

The hotel offers extraordinary dining options, a dedicated staff committed to excellence, and easy access to the Washington Metro Transit’s Red Line (https://www.wmata.com)) via the Medical Center Station. A complimentary shuttle runs hourly in the morning from 6:30am to 9:30am and 4:30pm to 7:30pm between the metro stop, Bethesda downtown, Marriott Headquarters and the hotel’s front entrance, making travel simple and convenient. Parking is available for $22/per day.

Everything you need for the festival—performance spaces, accommodations, food, vendors, and more—is all under one roof. Guests will also enjoy the hotel’s proximity to world-class shopping, over 200 restaurants, major highways, airports, and Union Station.

  • $149 per night for double-queen rooms
