Performing on Ronnie’s Stage — February 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM
Join us on Ronnie’s Stage for an unforgettable evening with Tacha Coleman Parr, whose soulful and heartfelt interpretations breathe new life into jazz standards and beyond. Her ability to connect deeply with audiences—whether lifelong jazz lovers or new listeners—makes every performance a captivating, intimate experience.
A North Carolina native, Tacha’s musical journey began in childhood, singing everything she could. Rooted in classical vocal training and gospel traditions, her sound carries both technical precision and emotional authenticity. After moving to Washington, D.C., she began exploring jazz more seriously, training with celebrated educators and performers Ron Elliston and Ronnie Wells-Elliston. She later honed her craft under the guidance of acclaimed artists such as Wayne Wilentz, Chris Grasso, Kenny Washington, Carmen Bradford, Giacomo Gates, Ann Hampton Callaway, Carmen Lundy, and Rebecca Parris.
Tacha’s artistry has been described by author and producer Barry Nix as “controlled tone—emoting syrupy sweet to achy and longing… intimate and deeply personal, like she’s telling you her own story.” With an extraordinary 4½-octave range, she channels the expressive power of her “Holy Trinity” of influences—Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Carmen McRae—while also drawing inspiration from Nancy Wilson, Dianne Reeves, Joe Williams, Ronnie Wells, Rebecca Parris, and Chet Baker.
Throughout her career, Tacha has graced many of the Washington, D.C. area’s most beloved stages, including The Kennedy Center, Busboys & Poets, Westminster Church’s Jazz Night, The Carlyle Room, The Montpelier Arts Center, Alice’s Jazz & Cultural Society, and WPFW’s Live at Five. She also enjoyed a two-year residency at Mr. Henry’s Ladies of Jazz Series (2015–2017) and was voted one of the Top 3 Singers in The Washington City Paper’s “Best Of” Poll (2016). Her performances have taken her far beyond the capital, from San Francisco and New Orleans to Costa Rica, Australia, Hawaii, and England.
Through her commanding voice, dynamic storytelling, and deep reverence for jazz tradition, Tacha Coleman Parr continues to bridge musical generations—inviting audiences into her world of warmth, honesty, and timeless expression.
