THEME: EXPLORING THE MODERN BRAZILIAN-AMERICAN JAZZ CONNECTION
Vocalists Maija Rejman and Sinergia delve into the rich intersection of modern American and Brazilian jazz, blending cultures through dynamic melodies and rhythms. With original compositions in English and Portuguese, Maija and Tatiana take audiences on a musical journey between Brazil and the U.S., showcasing the best of their repertoires alongside Sinergia’s vibrant artistry. This performance also celebrates the upcoming release of Maija’s CD, a project that embodies the spirit of this cross-cultural collaboration.

About Maija and Sinergia

Maija has been thrilled with the modern approach of “Sinergia” to producing and performing Brazilian Jazz and traditional music. Maija and Sinergia hope to blend their love of Brazilian music and performing with each other to entertain audiences at the MidAtlantic Jazz Festival. 

 

With three critically acclaimed CDs to her credit, Maija is a veteran jazz vocalist and songwriter. Maija’s shows are frequently a standing-room only audience experience. Maija has also been awarded the Jazz Service Award by the Capital Hill Jazz Foundation for her contribution in building the careers of many jazz artists in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. Maija recently was awarded a Silver prize from the Songwriter’s Association for her song, “Lonely Old Man in the Moon.” At this writing Maija is preparing her fourth album, “Broken Kisses.”
 
SINERGIA unites four artists from the D.C. Brazilian music scene and performs great Brazilian songs that are rarely performed in the U.S., along with bossa/samba classics and occasional adaptations of American tunes we all know and love! SINERGIA is Tatiana Claro (voice), Rob Orwin  (keyboard, saxophone, melodica), Tom Rohde (guitar), Christopher Payne (drums, percussion).
