Be prepared to hear a stunning set of music by world renowned pianist Geoffrey Keezer featuring his working quartet with the addition of his incredible vocalist Gillian Margot.
The Main Stage ticketing is divided into Sessions. Each Session is comprised of three power-hitting Acts. Seating is divided into groups which include Premium 4-seater tables, General 6-seater tables and then General theater seating. ALL GENERAL SEATING TABLES ARE RESERVED FOR VOYAGER PASSPORT HOLDERS, so please purchase your all-access Voyager Passport in advance. You can pick up your Voyager Passports at the Box Office after 3pm on the first day of the festival. All proceeds from the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival directly support efforts of the Jazz Academy of Music.
About Geoffrey Keezer
Geoffrey Keezer is a GRAMMY® Award-winning pianist, composer, arranger, and producer who has become a distinguished figure in modern jazz. Originally from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Keezer displayed musical talent from a young age, leading him to join Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers when he moved to New York City in 1989. His career has since flourished, including collaborations with iconic jazz figures such as Ray Brown, Wayne Shorter, Dianne Reeves, and Sting, along with notable contributions to Grammy-nominated projects with vocalist Denise Donatelli. Keezer’s music is known for drawing inspiration from global folk traditions, blending these with jazz to create a unique and personal style.
His recent release, “Geoffrey Keezer Live at Birdland”, marks his first live trio album in over 15 years, featuring John Patitucci and Clarence Penn. Recorded during six sets over three nights at the renowned Birdland, the album is a homage to the spontaneity and soul of live jazz. Reflecting on the joyful spirit and creativity of his heroes, Wayne Shorter and Chick Corea, Keezer’s performances convey both technical mastery and a deep sense of playfulness, celebrating jazz’s power to connect and inspire.
His latest album, “Playdate”, earned him the 2023 GRAMMY® for Best Instrumental Composition with the piece “Refuge.”
As a member of The Juilliard School faculty and a Yamaha artist, Keezer’s work continues to push the boundaries of jazz, bridging past and future to captivate audiences worldwide.
