The “Q” (Quincy Jones) Stage ticketing is divided into Sessions. Each Session consists of two dynamic musical Acts. The first show is at 7:30pm – Christie Dashiell, and at 9:00pm Chelsey Green and the Green Project. Seating is General Admissions.
We are thrilled to announce the incredible vocalist, Christie Dashiell, will grace the “Q” Stage at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival on Valentine’s Day. Fresh from the excitement of her first-ever GRAMMY nomination, Christie will bring her soulful artistry to our audience with a performance not to be missed.
About Christie Dashiell
Dashiell’s unique voice and resonant tone are showcased in her new album, Journey in Black, which features seven original compositions that explore themes of freedom, legacy, grief and joy. Known for blending jazz with R&B, gospel, and soul, Christie has blazed a path that not only celebrates her family’s musical legacy but also energizes jazz for new generations.
A graduate of Howard University and the Manhattan School of Music, Christie was a member of Afro-Blue, Howard University’s premier jazz vocal ensemble. Dashiell has appeared on concert stages around the world, including Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, The Baku Jazz Festival in Azerbaijan, and Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo.
In addition to performing, Dashiell shares her talent by teaching at Temple University, Howard University and The University of the District of Columbia. Her sensational sophomore album, Journey in Black, features seven original compositions and two arrangements that combine the sounds of improvised music plus various styles of Afro-American music. It also boasts a stellar cast of musicians, including Shedrick Mitchell, Marquis Hill, Allyn Johnson, Romeir Mendez and Carroll Dashiell, III under the creative guidance of NEA Jazz Master, Dianne Reeves.
With a career that includes collaborations with icons like Wynton Marsalis and jazz ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock, Christie’s performances are immersive, authentic, and deeply rooted in tradition. The Jazz Academy of Music is honored to host her at this year’s festival, where her captivating talent and love for jazz will shine.
