Reggie Bowens is a versatile jazz pianist, vocalist, composer, and educator whose work bridges tradition, modern expression, and community engagement. Based in Washington, DC, Bowens is widely respected for his lyrical piano style, deep rhythmic feel, and ability to seamlessly blend jazz with elements of gospel, R&B, and contemporary Black music traditions. His performances reflect a strong sense of storytelling, rooted in both technical mastery and emotional authenticity.
In addition to his work as a performing artist, Bowens is a dedicated educator and currently serves as Assistant Professor of Music in Jazz Studies at Howard University, where he teaches piano, voice, and ensemble performance. His commitment to mentorship and musical development has made him an influential figure among emerging jazz musicians in the region. Bowens is also an active collaborator, appearing regularly in performances, jam sessions, and educational initiatives throughout the DC jazz community.
