After earning a degree in Speech Communication from Northeastern University in Boston, she moved to New York in the early 1990s to pursue a full-time career in jazz.

Carla’s debut album, It’s All About Love (1999), earned a Grammy® nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Performance — a remarkable feat for a debut release.
